Skype for Business has launched

Big news for Microsoft Lync users Skype for business has launched. The new client has all of the familiar features of Skype and the ability to contact people outside of your organisation.

The new client is now part of Office with integrated features such as calls, video calls, IM and meeting all included in the office suite. The most convenient new feature is the ability to IM, video and voice call anyone on the Skype network not just in your business or in Skype for business. This is a huge advantage over Microsoft Lync which limited communication.

The rollout will begin with the April Microsoft Office updates for both Office 365 and Office 2013 world wide with all users expected to by changed over by the end of May. If you aren’t quite ready for the change just yet the good news is that Lync administrators can control the change over for their users.

The good news is we have a great range of UC headsets, like the Jabra Evolve series, that are perfect for Skype for business.
